Why I'm Running

A letter from me, to you

A spirit of fear and uncertainty crept into our world in 2020. Our churches and small business owners were closed down while large retailers continued operating. “Listen to us, we know best,” the government said, all while honest hard working “non-essential business” people lost their livelihoods. Then came division and the riots, followed by mandates and censorship. People were in pain and my concerns were growing. What happened to our country?

An honest pursuit for information and truth was sparked in me. I needed to better understand the events in Minnesota, our government’s actions, and I actively sought to broaden my knowledge of our country’s founding documents. I had always kept a watchful eye on societal issues, but now I had focused attention. I got involved. 

National policy failures have presented unprecedented challenges in our state. These issues are the result of deliberate actions disregarding the values and well-being of American citizens. Our families are concerned. Minnesota Democrats spent our record surplus, then raised our taxes by the billions. Inflation, wars, our borders, race, identity, and sexuality overshadow moral character and personal responsibility. Where is our hope in all of this? My decision to stand up and make my views known is simple. This is about my children, my neighbors, and you. I refuse to pass problems to the next generation when I possess the capacity, conviction, and skills to advocate for a better tomorrow. This house seat transcends policy for me; government measures alone cannot heal the societal brokenness shackling us. I want you to know that expecting morality and trust from our leaders is a reasonable and valid expectation.

How often have candidates asked for our vote, pledging to address budget issues, the economy, taxes, healthcare, or education? Despite decades of these promises, what has changed? What I see is a spiritual brokenness continually unaddressed. Let me be clear, fiscally responsible solutions are non-negotiable, but promises to legislate without engaging the deeper issues of the heart devalue the meaning of our humanity. We have a heart problem. Leadership must be less about politics and more about people. We can do better.

Minnesota is a remarkable state with incredible people deserving to be represented well by our leaders. Let's honor those who've served and build upon our strengths. In this election, let's aim for a higher standard, drawing inspiration from successful examples like our neighbors in South Dakota. By entrusting this responsibility to my care of serving our community, you're casting a vote for the same impactful and heart-driven representation I champion in all aspects of my life. I believe in securing for everyone the opportunity to lead a life marked by liberty, justice, and the pursuit of happiness, free from excessive government control. Effective leadership requires simplicity, transparency, informed decision-making, and thoughtful engagement in challenging conversations. Most importantly, we must not neglect the significance of our spiritual well-being and development as we engage in serving the people of Minnesota.

As our Declaration of Independence says, “For we hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.” So... let us boldly stand in unity and work together to uphold these principles, secure our rights together, and prayerfully act to serve the needs and hearts of Minnesotans and beyond. I believe by actively standing for this, we’ll truly find the healing we seek and need for a better tomorrow.
